Ramadan Diaries : Welcome oh Ramadan

Ramadan Diaries : Welcome oh Ramadan

The clock ticks on the countdown to Ramadan.  The waqt of Asr is begining to fade, and there’s a heaviness in my heart about how life can change from one Ramadan to the next.  Life is not static. People pass on, some have fallen terminally ill, some have passed away, some marriages have seperated, and some have new additions to their families. Subhanallah. Qadr Allah.

This Ramadan will see a series of personal blogging over the next 30 days, insha-allah. Something I’ve not done before for MuslimahLifeStyle.com 🙂

I’m excited for Ramadan this year, happily reflecting on the Ramadan goals that I’ve set, and new habits I want to implement. May allah swt make it easy for me. And for you. The internet is abuzz with information overload on things to do, how to begin Ramadan on the right footing, apps you should download, how to fast from social media and much much more. There have been many courses on Ramadan, as well as webinars focussing on Ramadan and more recently even webinars for new muslims to help them with their first ramadan, providing them with answers to many pertinent questions. Masha allah.

Again , I’d like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a blessed Ramadan. If you’re struggling with hijab, try it out this Ramadan. No harm in trying 🙂  There is a wonderful 30 Day Ramadan Challenge for those who want to experience the hijab. May allah swt make it easy on you.

My Ramadan starts from a point of shukr (gratitude).

gratitude

Here are 5 things on my Shukr List

  • I am grateful for seeing another Ramadan, and  for being home with my family instead of alone.
  • I am grateful for the time I’ve invested already in preparing eats for Ramadan – it was a reminder to myself that Allah swt helps others through us.
  • I am grateful for always having enough, Alhumdulillah. It is a mercy from Allah swt to be in a position where we can give others and not taking.
  • I am gratful for being in sound health and mind to be able to fast, and to fully appreciate the greatness of the month of Mercy.
  • I am grateful being emotionally at peace, and I am certain that it will allow me to make the most of this beautiful month. Insha-allah.

4 Things that are a given:

  • I will be grumpy at sehri.
  • I will fall asleep immediately after Taraweeh on most days.
  • I will miss the loved ones that have passed on.
  • I will probably have one too many sweetcorn samoosas. They’re my favourite.
