Assalaamu Alaykom dear Reader
Welcome to Muslimah(Life)Style
Muslimah(Life)Style has been created for the sisters by the sisters to promote Islamic sisterhood amongst muslimahs. This community blog, founded in May 2011, focusses on a variety of current day to day elements of a Muslimahs life. Essentially looking to be a support structure for sisters to share their ideas and fresh talent, showcase their photography, Islamic event coverage, and encourage academia.
Allah SWT has created the Ummah with both genders, Male and well as Female. Often we find in many parts of the world, the muslim brotherhood is oppressive of the sisters. We are by no means feminist. We adopt the shariah viewpoints applicable to gender, at the same time we are here to support sisters in their strive for knowledge.
رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا – Rabbi zidni ilma
O my Lord! Advance me in Knowledge
[surah Ta-Ha; 20:114]
In some sectors academia and women who are knowledgeable are frowned upon. There is no indignity in seeking beneficial knowledge. Our reviews, Islamic events as well as book suggestions are a means to stir interest in Islam, and support the muslimah as a student of Islamic life.
As the western world influences fashion largely, there is a dire need to showcase the muslimah identity and modest dressing for the sole purpose of encouragement. Our women are gems and should be protected. Our means of Islamic fashion allows the muslimah to see that islam is not oppressive in spite of the obligation to cover oneself. Alhumdulillah.
Living in today’s society leaves many gaps in the acceptance and understanding of Islam. Often muslimahs are ridiculed and oppressed for wearing the headscarf. As a support structure Muslimah(Life)Style equips sisters with ways to diplomatically deal with the stresses and struggles that are inflicted on the Islamic identity.
All writers and contributors have given of their time and skills for the pleasure of Allah. May their efforts be rewarded and their good deeds be elevated.
Barakallahu Feekum,
