World Hijab Day 2013

World Hijab Day 2013

“Walk a day in my shoes.” This is where WHD comes in. What is that you ask? WHD is short for World Hijab Day. This first time annual event will be held on February 1st, 2013 (God willing). On this day, we ask Non-Muslim and Non-Hijabi Muslim women worldwide to observe Hijab for a day. It will be a day for everyone willing to experience what it’s like to step inside the shoes of a Hijabi. Our hopes are no less than that. We wish you will gain a wealth of knowledge and experience a slightly different definition of FREEDOM.

This is bid’ah….. I do not know of any of the companions who participated in things like this.

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Every innovation is misguidance and going astray” Reported by Abu Daawood (no. 4607), at-Tirmidhee (no. 2676) and it is saheeh. Ibn Hajr authenticated it Takhreej Ahaadeeth Ibn ul-Haajib (1/137).

And he (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) also said: “… and every innovation is misguidance and all misguidance is in the Hellfire.” Reported by an-Nasaa’ee (1/224) from Jaabir bin Abdullaah and it is saheeh as declared by Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah in Majmoo’ ul-Fataawaa (3/58).

      Assalaamu Alaikum,
you have to contextualize your understanding of the appropriateness of the world. If by means of your perception, you are classifying things haraam by virtue of them not existing during the time of Nabi SAWS. With that said, is motor car haraam? no. Is using an elephant for transport haraam coz the prophet SAWS didn’t do it? NO. The quraan was memorized because memory was the greatest ‘technology’ of the time. This memory allowed things like the the quraan and the ahadith to later be documented and transcribed. And as the world evolved, these improvisations in the technology of our time have enabled people to learn, grow and benefit from. May allah swt grant us understanding beyond slanted contextualizations of what we think the world ought to be like in context of 1400 years ago. Alhumdulillah, islam has prevailed. All knowledge is from allah swt, and may he continue to help us to grow as ummah, to help and encourage people. And in this case World Hijab day encourages women muslim and non muslim to don the hijab. A global initiative for hijab awareness, where our sister and mothers are being ostracised for wearing the hijab. May allah swt make it easy for the ummah.Khair insha-allah.
Jzk khair for dropping by the site and taking the time out to leave your viewpoint. Wa alaikum Salaam.
