As salaamu alaikum
In a world of great stress, time pressures, Islamophobia, and confusion within our communities, it can be difficult to stay grounded and live the life of a true Muslim. We’re told, many times, that Islam is a path of moderation – “a middle way” that leads to success in both this life and the next. But how does one juggle the ever-increasing demands of modern life while still maintaining a strong Islamic identi…ty and a deep relationship with Allah? The 2011 edition, under the theme “Striking the Balance,” will cover topics dealing with various aspects of Muslim life – such as balance and moderation; cultivating taqwa; living by the sunnah; interfaith relations; and marriage. Speakers include a mix of young and old, with scholars like Mufti Ismail Menk, Shaykh Navaid Aziz, Shaykh Bilal Ismail, and Dr Fadel Soliman, among others. Registration opens 7th March, and those registering early – before 15th April- will be entitled to a discount on the registration fee. – Date: Friday 6th May to Sunday 8th May 2011 – Registration cost: R400 (25% discount for registration before 15th April. Student discounts also available.) For further enquiries, contact Goolam on 083 786 0027, Muhammad Osman on 083 556 9838 or Roshaan Misbach on 074 186 2808.
