What caused these fractions weren’t mere disagreements regarding certain aspects of fiqh, it was far greater than that. Allah (swt) warns us of this very evil in the Glorious Quran when he says “And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie.” – Surah An’aam
The very characteristics that united and strengthened the ummah during its rise are the very things the ummah is sadly missing today. Our lack of knowledge and silence on these matters only allows for further corruption to spread and prosper.
