Hijab-friendly Olympics Opening Ceremony 2012
Yesterday 27 July 2012 saw the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. Breath taking to say the least! This Olympics sees many firsts, first time hijab approval in the global sporting arena. It has been immensely challenging to source pics of hijaabi’s from the London Olympics Opening Ceremony 2012, but we’ve managed to come up with these.
For the first time the world sees Hijabi Olympians free to don their headscarves for a global sporting event. Very happy and proud to see them competing, not just as muslimahs but also competing in hijab for the first time in history May Allah bring them success!
Twitter was abuzz with much awareness:
“Inspiring to see so many ladies observing

Olympics 2012 : hijab friendly! Lots of beautiful hijaabi participants from around the globe! Masha-allah
Saudi Arabia’s first female Olympic athletes made their appearance at the opening ceremony to the London Games on Friday, dressed in traditional hijabs, or Islamic headscarfs.
